The user manuals include principles that guide the assessment process, the basic design for rating strengths and needs, an explanation of how the tools are used, and a breakdown of rating scale by domain. Additionally, you will find CANS cards, courtesy of A Better Way and West Coast Children's Clinic, which you can print and use as assessment tools.
CANS Birth to 24 Years – Implementation Announcement
The 3rd edition of Alameda County’s CANS shall integrate the Early Childhood version, Child and Youth Ages 6-17 version and the Transitional Age Youth Ages 18-24 into one. The new Birth to 24 will be compliant with the CA state requirements and guidelines. The new Birth to 24 ("B-24") was implemented in July, 2020.
